On the map – switching up the story of a seaside retreat

In February 2019 we were given the chance to develop a new, compelling brand for the district of Folkestone & Hythe in Kent. The council wanted us to show the world what this diverse region of the county has to offer as a destination for life, work, tourism and investment, and we leapt straight in.

We started by calling on the community to share their vision for the district with two creative workshops where we met residents, businesses and community groups. That swathe of information and enthusiasm influenced the creation of a new campaign narrative and brand identity that reflected Folkestone & Hythe itself: compelling, visually striking, and ready for the future!

76,400 impressions on Twitter (Q2 2020)
7.36% LinkedIn engagement rate (industry average: 2%)
455 Twitter follower growth (Sept 2019 – July 2020)

We developed a bold new logo and a catalogue of key messaging to support the council and its partners in creating new marketing materials to promote the district. We used visual cues to define the campaign pillars – live, work, visit and invest – and wrapped up the first phase of the project in September 2019 with a brand launch event attended by over 120 partners, businesses and investors in central London.
